My husband and I transferred to a new school in the country of Georgia, so that meant a new classroom and design. I've been terrible about keeping this blog updated, but I'll quickly catch you up.
My first year at my new school, space was a bit tight due to booming enrollment. To avoid having to share a classroom, I offered to take the tiny windowless chemistry lab for my own. I figured that with enough color and a good theme I could make it work. The first year I decided on a sunny beach theme.
Here is the before picture after I scrubbed the room down and removed a lot of junk. It had previously been used mainly for storage and needed a lot of T.L.C.
Here is the finished room!
The ceiling is covered with streamers hung with magnetic hooks and fishing line. I also detailed all the cabinets with easy-to-remove washi tape in blue and neon yellow geometric patterns. The jellyfish is a sticker mural. The beach scene is a party backdrop that I used at my last school. I also added a couple posters and a few details that I picked up at some surf shops in Florida. The grass skirt on the fume cabinet was hung with hook magnets so that I could easily remove it when I needed to use the cabinet without causing a fire hazard. I really enjoyed this theme, but it made me think that the next year I would use the dungeon-like feel to my advantage (See Hogwarts Theme 2016-2017).
